Bethel Blessings July 27 & 28
BLESSING OF QUILTS: This weekend will be the “Blessing of the Quilts” which are made by the Quilting Group here at Bethel. Thirty comforters will be sent to Global Missions and will be used for natural disaster relief. Fifty-four children's quilts will be donated to the Children's hospital here in Colorado Springs. Five comforters will be given to Mary's House locally. A big thank you to ALL the ladies.
After Worship Food and Fellowship Every Sunday during the summer: Everyone is invited every week! July 28th is an All Church; August 4th is Mariana Lewis and her Team; August 11th is the Stephen Ministry Team
ANNUAL LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Now collecting sturdy backpacks and assorted school supplies for foster and safe care children. Look for the yellow school bus box in the Narthex, along with lists of needed supplies. Deadline is Sunday, August 4th. Your generosity is deeply appreciated by Lutheran Family Services and the children of this community.
FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN: Join Us for the Feed My Starving Children Manna Pack Event! Bethel is excited to host the FMSC Colorado Springs Mobile Pack on August 16th & 17th. This means you can volunteer to help pack Manna Packs! To register go to: Register for Manna Packing
Bethel also needs help in hosting the event. We need help setting up the packing stations, greeting volunteers as they come to their packing session, cleaning up after each packing session, and cleanup at the end of the Mobile Pack.
BETHEL PRESCHOOL: There are still a couple of openings in the 3–4-year-old room for the 2024/2025 school year.
BUNCO: Our next game night will be on Friday, August 2 at 7:00pm, meeting in Curmudgeon Corner in the front lobby at Bethel. We play 2 rounds and we ask that everyone brings a snack to share. The cost is only $5, but if you win (there is more than one way to win) you will get your investment back.
RETIREMENT PARTY FOR KENT MATHEWS: Join us to celebrate on July 31st from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Kinship Landing 415 S. Nevada. Kent has played a vital role in providing resources to family members caring for their loved ones over the past 32 years, and especially for the past 17 years with the Area Agency on Aging in El Paso County. He has also been a frequent speaker for Stephen Ministry Groups, Pillar, UCCS, Newman University, and many churches in the community. We are hoping for a large turnout to show Kent our appreciation for the valuable work he has done over the years, and for the many lives he has touched.
BACK TO SCHOOL NEIGHBORHOOD CELEBRATION: Everyone is invited to a Cookout with Food and Fellowship on Sunday, August 15th from 10:30am – 12:00pm. We are inviting all the neighbors in the area to come and celebrate with us. Watch the Bethel Blessings for more information in the coming weeks.
STEPHEN MINISTRY: What do Stephen Ministers do? Stephen Ministers are members of Bethel who have gone through 50 hours of training to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to people who are facing a crisis or simply going through a difficult time. Your Stephen Minister will meet with you once a week for around an hour to listen to you, care for you, pray with and for you, and provide emotional and spiritual encouragement. Men are matched with male Stephen Ministers; women are matched with female Stephen Ministers. To find out more about how you or someone you know could be matched with a Stephen Minister, talk with one of our Pastors. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you.
