Bethel Blessings | September 4 & 5, 2021
Join us for worship! Bethel Lutheran Church offers in-person as well as streamed services that are available for live viewing during the actual worship service or anytime thereafter on Saturdays at 5:30pm and Sundays at 9:15am.
Watch live streaming of the weekend worship services by following this link: Weekly Service Video. In following the CDC guidelines and those of our governor, we have moved to "personal choice" as far as wearing masks. We realize that some people may continue to wear a mask for various reasons. Please be respectful of people whatever choice they make as we all try to navigate life the best way for each of us. For more information on Bethel's Worship Service Guidelines, click here. Thank you for continuing to practice normal healthy guidelines for everyone's well-being.
***NOTICE: In-person worship service attendees acknowledge that there may be risks involved with exposure to COVID-19. Members, their families, and guests are asked to please not attend in-person worship if they are sick or have been in contact with anyone who is sick or may have been sick within the past 14 days.
***Nursery & Childcare: Because of the virus, we are not staffing a separate nursery during weekend worship services. We love children in worship! If you need a quiet place for your child, the service can be heard in the Narthex (the area right outside of the Sanctuary). Thank you, as we all work together for the best worship experience for everyone.
Weekly Devotion Video: Bethel is providing a weekly devotion online. Go to Bethel’s main webpage (BethelLutheran.net) and click on “The Daily Update” picture to listen to this weekly offering (you may also click here for online devotions).

Your teachers are: Tessa Merritt - tessa@bethellutheran.net and Pastor Stephen Higgins - stephen@bethellutheran.net.

INREACH & OUTREACH NEWS
A huge thank you to Bethel's congregants for the generous donation to COSILoveYou for the city-wide Backpack Bash event. Approximately 15,000 backpacks were distributed to area school children in need. The timing was spot on as it arrived at the exact time funds were needed. Also, your response of the 30 complete backpacks with school supplies for Lutheran Family Services went immediately to Foster Care children beginning the school year. Because of your willingness to give, it brought smiles to children and reduced financial stress on families. Many Thanks, Arlene Duenckel - Bethel Outreach
Thank you Bethel for your generous Lenten Noisy Change donation to FMSC. It allowed Colorado Springs to host a FMSC Mobile Pack! Also a big thank you to the volunteers; the Mobile Pack would not have been such a success without you! The Mobile Pack had: 6 packing stations, 7 packing shifts (4 on Friday - Aug 12 and 3 on Saturday – Aug 13), 262 volunteers, 241 boxes packed, with a total of 52,056 Manna Meals! We will be feeding 144 kids for an entire year! What a privilege it was to be on the Mobile Pack Committee and act as FMSC Overall Volunteer Coordinator. Most important, what a blessing to belong to a church community such as Bethel, one that quickly comes together for a common cause - nourishing those that are vulnerable and hungry. If you feel led to work on next year’s Mobile Pack, contact Marie St. Gelais. Until all are fed!
Bethel's Church Library: We are back working in the library following the lengthy Covid break, and we invite you to feel free to enjoy it again. Please return books and DVDs you may have at home to be re-shelved, and chose some new ones to check out, read and view. We have many interesting selections for all ages in many subject areas, both fiction and non-fiction. [The Library Committee]
ReStore Volunteers Needed: Do you have 4 hours a week available to volunteer at ReStore, the fundraising arm of Habitat for Humanity? Volunteers are needed for the new store opening this fall at 6250 Tutt Blvd and also at their current location on Wahsatch near downtown. There are a variety of positions open. If interested, contact Dusty Last, volunteer coordinator of Pikes Peak ReStore at 719-213-5655.
Save the Date! - Come join us for the Family Promise Walk on Sunday, October 3rd at 1:00pm. The 1-mile walk will feature stops for learning about FP’s programs. In CY2020, Family Promise helped 300 families (1,102 people including 665 children). The walk will start at Grace & St. Stephen’s Church at 601 N. Tejon St. Registration is online and more information can be found at https://www.ihn-cos.org/fpwalk Team Captains for Bethel are Kim Brown and Daryl Skoog.
Cancelled Stamps - PK Petitmermet has been collecting cancelled stamps and for 2021-2022 the money will go to help those organizations that help homeless teens and young adults. Part of that money will also stay in COS to help those here and the rest of the money will be spread all over the state of Colorado. Please remember not to cut too close to the scallop edges but leave a 1/4 to 1/3 inch around the stamp, if possible. Also, you can now collect "ANY" kind of stamp that comes on an envelope - foreign, non-profit, Christmas, Love, inked stamped envelopes and pre-stamped etc. Let PK know if you have any questions and "Thank You" very much for continuing to collect for this worthy cause. Please put your cancelled stamps in a zip lock bag and place them in the Petitmermet mailbox at Bethel until further notice.
