Bethel Blessings - July 10 & 11 2021
Bethel Lutheran Church offers in-person as well as streamed services that are available for live viewing during the actual worship service or anytime thereafter on Saturdays at 5:30pm and Sundays at 9:15am. Watch live streaming of the weekend worship services by following this link: Weekly Service Video. In following the CDC guidelines and those of our governor, we have moved to "personal choice" as far as wearing masks. We realize that some people may continue to wear a mask for various reasons. Please be respectful of people whatever choice they make as we all try to navigate life the best way for each of us. For more information on Bethel's Worship Service Guidelines, click here. Thank you for continuing to practice normal healthy guidelines for everyone's well-being.
***NOTICE: In-person worship service attendees acknowledge that there may be risks involved with exposure to COVID-19. Members, their families, and guests are asked to please not attend in-person worship if they are sick or have been in contact with anyone who is sick or may have been sick within the past 14 days.
***Nursery & Childcare: Because of the virus, we are not staffing a separate nursery during weekend worship services. We love children in worship! If you need a quiet place for your child, the service can be heard in the Narthex (the area right outside of the Sanctuary). Thank you, as we all work together for the best worship experience for everyone.
Weekly Devotion Videos: Bethel provides weekly devotions online! Go to Bethel’s main webpage (BethelLutheran.net) and click on “The Daily Update” picture to listen to these weekly offerings (you may also click here for online devotions).
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Global Leadership Summit: Join us on Thursday & Friday, August 5-6, as Bethel once again hosts the Global Leadership Summit (GLS). This world-class leadership event is for anyone who wants to make a bigger, more significant impact in the world and for those around you. During a season that may have depleted your energy, stunted your growth, or left you in the dark, it’s time to rediscover a new hope for future and learn how to be the positive influencer God wants you to be. Registration is now open for this event. Just go to BethelLutheran.net and follow the links for the Global Leadership Summit. Bethel members, please see the weekly announcements for more information. Contact Pastor Dan at 719-570-9800 or pastordan@bethellutheran.net if you have any questions.
Mission Opportunity: Bethel's intergenerational Mission Trip for youth and adults will take place the week of July 25-30. A group from Bethel will travel to the Omaha, Nebraska, area for the third summer in a row to help rebuild/refurbish homes that were flooded two springs ago in a low-income area of need (King Lake, NE). Please let Pastor John know if you are interested in participating.
Bethel Preschool is looking for a preschool teacher to work Monday-Thursday from 8:30am - 1:30pm during the school year. Responsible for curriculum planning and implementation, building relationships with the preschoolers and their families and light cleaning duties. If interested, send resume to preschool@bethellutheran.net.
Stephen Ministry Training Class: Bethel is excited to be offering a new Stephen Ministry training class that will begin on Wednesday, September 1st! If you would like to talk more about the training and consider being a part of the class, please speak with either Pastor John or Stephen Ministry Leader, Karin Reynolds.
New Show in the Bethel Gallery - Images from Egypt: The Bethel Travel Group is scheduled to take a trip to Egypt this October. I decided to pick some pictures from a trip that Sarah and I took to Egypt several years ago for this Bethel Show. Hopefully, this will get our travelers excited about doing some photography of their own during their trip. We hope that everyone enjoys these images. I tried to include a few suggestions about composition that can improve anyone’s photography. Are you interested in having some of your work displayed in the Bethel Gallery? Contact Eric Wulfsberg for details.

INREACH & OUTREACH NEWS
"Stuff the Truck" Disaster Response: The event on Saturday, June 26, was a big success and a huge thank you goes out to Bethel's congregation for a very generous donation of items for the "Stuff the Truck" Disaster Response event. Bethel's contribution helped to fill up the rental truck at Black Forest Lutheran Church with much needed supplies and gift cards. Your participation was greatly appreciated!
It's back to school supply time again! Look for the yellow bus in the narthex area for more information. This Outreach opportunity benefits Lutheran Family Services Foster Care & Refugee Children.
Family Promise of Colorado Springs is hosting two more Summer BBQ's at the IHN Day House at 519 N. Tejon St., CSC 80903, and Bethel members have been invited to attend! Dates and times are Saturday, July 17 from 5-7pm and Friday, August 13 from 12-2pm. They are asking everyone to RSVP at least 5 days before at https://www.ihn-cos.org/get_involved or 719-329-1244. COVID precautions will be observed. Questions? Call 719-329-1244.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) Colorado Springs 2021 Mobile Pack is scheduled for August 13 & 14. Registration for volunteers who would like to help with creating manna packs will take on a different format this year with COVID safety in mind. To accommodate social distancing and spacing, there will be half the amount of packing stations overall and each packing station will be able to support six individuals. Registration will be for groups of six family and friends within a single packing station. What does this mean? It means you will be packing with family or friends that you are comfortable being next to; and your station will be appropriately spaced from other packing stations. In addition, no donation is required due to the generous donation given by Bethel’s Lenten Noisy Coin fundraiser. So, get your family and friends together to team up for a packing station and be ready when registration opens. Volunteer spots other than manna packing will be available for smaller volunteer groups or individuals. Registration will begin June 13th at the following FMSC website: https://give.fmsc.org/cosprings. If you have any questions about individual volunteer options, creating family and friend packing teams, or registration overall, please feel free to contact Marie St. Gelais. Until all are fed!
Attention All Coffee Makers! Bethel will start offering coffee between services again beginning Sunday, September 12. Responsibilities in helping include having the coffee made by 9:15am and cleaning up after the 10:15am service. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Stephany Green and she will add you to this Bethel group. Thank you for your help in serving on the team!
Mercy's Gate: Bethel accepts non-perishable food and non-food items to be donated to Mercy's Gate. Items should be dropped off to the Mercy's Gate box near Bethel's main entry doors (any perishable food items should be taken directly to Mercy's Gate off Montebello Drive). Here is a current list of their most needed items: Soup, Chili, Toilet paper, Toiletries - toothpaste & toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, and shaving cream. If you have questions or need assistance with food pantry donations, please contact Mercy's Gate at 719-277-7470.
