LABOR DAY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND THE BETHEL OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED.
NEW WORSHIP TIME: Sunday, September 8th we will start Worship at 9:30am. The Saturday service remains at 5:30pm.
SUNDAY MORNING ALIVE LUNCH is served from 10:45am – 11:15am starting Sunday, September 8th and going every week through October. Grab some food and join a class or just enjoy the fellowship.
REMINDER: Joint Council and Team Leaders Meeting is on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30pm.
BAKING COOKIES/BARS FOR BETHEL VISITORS: We are looking for people who are willing to bake cookies for our first time visitors at Bethel. We would appreciate it if you put them in a labeled container and place them in the freezer in the upstairs kitchen. An assortment of cookies/bars will be put into the small boxes by church staff. This would be an occasional volunteer job.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES
KINGDOM KIDS CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL (Ages 4 thru 5th grade): September 8th is Sunday School Kickoff. Please come to worship at 9:30am and the children will be dismissed to Kingdom Kids at approximately 9:45am.
CONFIRMATION (All 7th thru 9th graders): Pastor John and Bethany will be starting up again on Sunday, September 8th.
YOUTH GROUP (Grade 6th – 12th): We want to know more! Would you want to be a Guest Star and get to know our youth during Youth Hour? No Experience Needed.
BE BOLD (Youth Hour is for Ages 12-18): We will be meeting on Sunday, September 8th at 10:45am in the Youth Room.
FAMILY GAME NIGHT: Friday, September 6th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the Christ Center. There will be card games, board games and refreshments. All are Welcome!
ADULT BIBLE CLASS: Pastor John will be teaching a Marriage class “Marriage on the Rock” that starts at 10:45am September 15th. Come learn about God’s design for your dream marriage. Pastor Dan will be leading a Study on the Gospel of John that begins at 10:45am on Sunday, September 8th. Please let either Pastor know if you want to be a part of their class.
BIBLE STUDY GROUPS
BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP: This is a city-wide women’s bible class that meets here at Bethel at 6:45pm on Monday nights starting on Monday, September 9th. They are studying the book of Revelation this Fall. They are encouraging any Spanish speaking women to please sign up.
Men’s Up & Adam Group: This men’s group meets at Bethel for Bible Study every Wednesday morning at 6:30am.
RUTH BIBLE STUDY: Ruth Bible Study will start meeting twice a week again on Tuesday, September 10th at 9:30am. We are studying Max Lucado’s book “Life Lessons from Daniel and Esther.” We would love to have you join us! We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 9:30am – 11:00am in the Library.
WEST (WOMEN EARNESLY SEEKING TRUTH) BIBLE STUDY: We meet Wednesdays in the Library from 10:30am - 12:00noon beginning September 4th. We will start our discussion on “I Am: Discovering Who Jesus Is.” As the title suggests, this study examines the “I Am” declarations of Jesus in the New Testament.
WEB (Women Exploring the Bible): We will resume class on Thursday, September 5th at 9:00am and will be discussing the study “Unveiling Mary Magdalene” by Liz Curtis Higgs. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 9:00am -11:00am in the Library.
INTEREST GROUPS
BETHEL BOOK CLUB: We meet once a month on the 3rd Thursday at 1:00pm in the Library. This month it will be on Thursday, September 19th.
BUNCO: We meet in the Narthex on the first Friday of the month at 7:00pm (Friday, September 6th). It’s a game of dice and all are welcome.
COLLEGE KIDS’ MAILINGS: Once school is back in session, the Bethel Blessings will include names of college students so that you can mail a letter encouraging them and letting them know we are praying for their success.
COMFORT MAKERS: Bethel's quilting group meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of each month from 9:00am – noon in the Christ Center (Tuesday, September 3rd is the next meeting time).
CONNECTIONS GROUP: This group is targeted to singles and couples in their 60’s (plus or minus). It is a fellowship and discussion group of mutual support, laughter, food, and fun.
GIFTS FROM THE HEART: We enjoy sharing the love of Christ with others by preparing and donating gifts. Our gift-giving includes: specially prepared baby gifts for newborns at Bethel, recycling stuffed animals for foster children, three different types of gift bags handed out to the homeless, meals for shut-ins or families in distress, and household goods for displaced veterans.
GIRL SCOUTS: We meet every other Thursday at 6:00pm in the Youth Room.
DINING OUT GROUP: We meet on the 4th Monday of the month.
MEN’S CHALLENGE GROUP: Men, do you want the abundance God came to give you? Do you want joy and peace AND to advance His kingdom? Then come join us. Hear God lead you. Glorify Him. We meet at 11:00am on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at Bethel.
MEN’S MINISTRY BREAKFAST: We meet once a month at 7:45am in the Christ Center. The next time we are getting together is Saturday, September 21st.
MICROBREW CREW GROUP: This adult group meets monthly at a local microbrewery.
PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: This group is for folks interested in photography from the novice to experienced.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY: If you enjoy knitting or crocheting and are interested in creating Prayer Shawls or Lap Robes for those that are home bound, this is the group for you. Yarn is available in the Narthex.
SENIOR GROUP: We meet once a month for Potluck and other activities. We get together for food, fun, and fellowship. The next time we get together is Friday, September 20th at noon in the Christ Center.
STITCHED WITH LOVE: This is a new ministry at Bethel that provides an opportunity for you to make and donate crocheted or knitted items for infants and children. These can include white baby afghans (now given to infants at baptisms) or items such as layettes, booties, quilts, stuffed animals, etc. We also make a variety of handmade items throughout the year for donation to foster children through Cases of Love, infants through Life Network, winter scarves for the homeless, etc. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matt 25:40
STEPHEN MINISTRY: The Stephen Minister’s role is to bring God’s love into the lives of people who are going through a difficult time or experiencing a crisis. Stephen Ministers listen to you, care for you, support and encourage you, and pray with you. And in the midst of this confidential, one-to-one, caring relationship, God’s healing love comes pouring through.
VARIETY DANCE: Variety Dance meets each Saturday afternoon in the Christ Center. The 2:30pm class is led by Gloria Pascua and the 4:00pm class is led by Sharon Oldfield.
