The Tabernaculo Biblico Bautista Jerusalem, a small church in the plains of Hacienda Santa Clara, El Salvador, has been chosen as our partner church. It is a rural church in a sugar cane production area where many people have jobs for only 4 months in a year. Those that work as laborers earn the equivalent of $57 per month. The community has water and electricity but needs schools and employment opportunities. Typical houses are constructed of dirt floors, adobe walls and corrugated iron roofs.
The church was founded in 1997 and has 160 members. They are a church with many children and young people that seeks to be a place of influence and hope in an area where poverty has a strong grip. It is pastored by Rafael Arturo Garcia Klee, who dedicated his life to ministry in 1996.
Through partnership with Compassion International, they are able to supply each sponsored child with Bible teaching, medical checkups, environmental campaigns, birthday celebrations, school supplies, music and computer classes. They also provide a parent’s school for the parents or guardians of the sponsored children. It is our hope that Bethel members will have a 100% sponsorship of the children at the Tabernaculo Biblico and that many will be able to travel to meet them face to face.
